was asked by Fujifilm UK and Millican bags to head to the beautiful Lake District in England to shoot with the X-M1 and test drive a new range of bags that Millican have designed specifically for the X-Series camera system. A weekend of photography in the stunning landscape of the Lake District with the chance to try out a bag designed for Fujifilm cameras that wasn’t even on the maket at that point (breath). It took me about 2 seconds to make up my mind. But the icing on the cake was that photographers David Cleland (FlixelPix) and Andrew James were also on board.
Each of us were to be filmed over the weekend by the crew above (Giles, Andrew & James). We were each given an assignment. David, being so lucky, had to get up at 4am and shoot landscapes. Have a look HERE for some of his shots. Andrew followed a sheep farmer for a day and in my opinion was a bit too eager to get there. I was given three assignments for my sins, but the third one was called off on the Sunday due to a change in weather. My first subject was Des, an elderly gentleman who’s had an amazing life from World War II to fell running, rock climbing to Lake District Mountain Rescue. His stories were amazing and I could have stayed with him all day.

I don’t know about you, but I love photography documentaries.
There’s just such a wealth of knowledge you can learn from those who have come before you.
I’ve compiled this list, in no particular order, in an effort to help inspire you as a photographer, and help you to learn more about the craft.

The Emerging Art Form of iPhoneography

When the first Apple iPhone was released in 2007, no one could have imagined that its release would usher in a new era in art, one in which anyone could create beautiful images taken and edited all on their phone. As users realized the quality of images the iPhone produced, it quickly became the device of choice for many mobile photographers, or iPhoneographers. Within a few years, professional and amateur photographers alike used their iPhones to capture landscapes, portraits and even scenes from war using nothing but their iPhone.
Take pictures. Take a lot of pictures. The only way to get comfortable using your iPhone as a camera is to practice. Get a feel for how you’re most comfortable holding the camera. Figure out if you prefer to use the on screen camera button or the volume button on the side of the phone to trigger the shutter. Invest in some hardware (like a tripod mount for your phone) that will help you take the best pictures possible. Consider purchasing lenses for your phone to give you a wide angle, fisheye, and macro option for shooting (the Olloclip is a particular favorite of iPhoneographers). Finally, find editing apps to help you create incredible iPhone-only images.

My dream Fuji X-series travel gadget bag

Like many of you, I have been speculating on what my travel gadget bag would look like if I decided to take only a Fuji X-series with me. Makes sense to speculate as the Fuji X system continues to expand to a point where it can be as compete as many pro DSLR systems that have been around for a long time. Nice thing about the Fuji X is how small it is in comparison. By the end of this year the super-wide angle zoom should be available along with the 23mm f/1.4 and a Zeiss macro so we will have a lot of equipment options available to us.

Up until now, I have often taken a Fuji X-Pro1 along with me on trips, but only as a backup camera to a complete Nikon system. I would use the Fuji on those occasions where I wanted to walk around casually and not be encumbered with too much stuff.  A few of my friends along with many readers of this blog have mentioned looking forward to travelling with just a light weight Fuji system instead of a heavy DSLR. That is what started me thinking about what such a system would look like for me.
