VIENNA -- Patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) were effectively able to use a video game to improve coordination, researchers reported.
Patients who participated in a Microsoft Xbox Kinect-supported virtual therapy session had significantly improved balance, gait, and functional reach scores from baseline, according to Ksenia Ustinova, PhD, and Jan Perkins, PT, PhD, both of Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant.
The video game therapy also significantly improved coordination, dynamic stability, and precision from baseline, Ustinova said during an oral presentation at the World Congress of Neurology.
