When the first Apple iPhone was released in 2007, no one could have
imagined that its release would usher in a new era in art, one in which
anyone could create beautiful images taken and edited all on their
phone. As users realized the quality of images the
iPhone produced, it quickly became the device of choice for many
mobile photographers, or
iPhoneographers.
Within a few years, professional and amateur photographers alike used
their iPhones to capture landscapes, portraits and even scenes from war
using nothing but their iPhone.
Take pictures. Take
a lot of pictures. The only way to get
comfortable using your iPhone as a camera is to practice. Get a feel
for how you’re most comfortable holding the camera. Figure out if you
prefer to use the on screen camera button or the volume button on the
side of the phone to trigger the shutter. Invest in some hardware (like
a tripod mount for your phone) that will help you take the best
pictures possible. Consider purchasing lenses for your phone to give you
a wide angle, fisheye, and macro option for shooting (the
Olloclip
is a particular favorite of
iPhoneographers). Finally, find editing apps to help you create incredible iPhone-only images.
